The Autism Awareness and Action Alliance – A4 focuses on directing its efforts toward providing both resources and support for early diagnosis and targeted interventions to screen neurodivergence among children belonging to migrant families from underserved populations in India.
A4 aims to do so by providing adequate screening tests for ASD and ADHD for the children of migrant workers in Gujarat through undertaking a fundraising initiative to finance the organization of these diagnostic tests. The goal is to help ensure that these young individuals are able to equitably thrive in their learning ecosystems and social spheres over the long term.
The Alliance is also dedicated to designing and offering parental and children training programs to aid families in not only understanding neurodiversity comprehensively but also effectively supporting their children through these differences, instead of repressing them. To supplement this, A4 also aims to create a series of informational flyers and organize expert-led sessions to equip families with the contextualized nuances of grappling with neurodiversity. As such, we aim to collaborate with hospitals and psychologists to aid us in these multi-layered efforts.
It is our aim that these on-ground initiatives including screening tests, training programs, and expert-led educational workshops would contribute towards the destigmatization of false notions that equate neurodiversity with shame and ridicule, and foster wider acceptance within the general public. We thus hope to create a more inclusive environment where every child can receive the care they deserve and continue to flourish.
